Marcelo convenes Council of State for October 28

The President of the Republic has convened a meeting of the Council of State for next Friday, October 28 at 3 p.m. in the Palácio de Belém.

The only item on the agenda is the analysis of the economic and social situation in Portugal, reports the website of the presidency of the republic.

This meeting will take place after the debate on the National Budget 2023 (OE2023) presented by the government, scheduled for the 26th and 27th.

The committee’s consideration in the specialty will begin on October 28, with the hearings of the various ministers and other entities, and the deadline for the presentation of amendment proposals is November 11 at 6 p.m.

The discussion of the document in the specialty in the plenary will start on 21 November and will extend over the whole week, with as usual a debate in the morning and vote in the afternoon.

The calendar also provides for the final wording of the document on December 14.

Under the OE2023 proposal, the government expects the Portuguese economy to grow by 1.3% in 2023 and to record a budget deficit of 0.9% of gross domestic product.

Presenting the budget proposal, the finance minister said it would boost revenues, boost investment and maintain the commitment to sound public finances in an unfavorable external environment of war in Europe and rising inflation.

The government aims to reduce the weight of public debt from 115% of GDP to 110.8% in 2023 and expects inflation to decline from 7.4% in 2022 to 4% next year.
