Motions of censure: Ciotti defends the “responsible” position of LR against Nupes and RN

Guest of BFMTV-RMC, Éric Ciotti criticized the joint votes of Nupes and RN on the motion of censure of the left. Regarding LR, who did not vote in favor of the provision, the deputy for the Alpes-Maritimes defends a “real responsible alternative”.

A field of “responsibility” and “reason”. Guest of BFMTV-RMC, Éric Ciotti defends the Republican Party (LR) while the deputies of this formation did not vote favorably on the motion of censure of the New Popular Ecological and Social Union (Nupes) this Monday, contrary to the National Coalition (NR ).

A decisive decision: without their votes, the motion of censure – which requires the majority of the votes of the deputies (289) to become effective – could not be approved with 50 votes. “If we censor, that means there is an alternative majority,” explains Éric Ciotti. Before whipping the position of the opposition.

“What would that have meant: that Mr. Mélenchon was Prime Minister? That Madame Rousseau was Minister of the Moral Police? And that Madame Le Pen was Minister of Foreign Affairs? We are not going to condone such a union.”

“Life jacket”

A response to the comments that LR has been subjected to by the RN and the Nupes since the political coup by Marine Le Pen. “The right narrowly saves the government”, for example, reacted Jean-Luc Mélenchon on Twitter. “Lifeguards or real opposition”, questioned for his part, not without irony, Sébastien Chenu, deputy of the RN.

Inevitably, Annie Genevard tells another story. “We did not defeat censorship, we opposed those for whom the media do not matter, as long as chaos occurs,” declares in the Public Senate, who has been leading LR since Christian Jacob left this position. .

In hollow, the possibility of a dissolution of the National Assembly -if a motion of censure becomes effective- and therefore new legislative elections. In June, LR saved the furniture by keeping a group of about sixty deputies. This allowed him to influence certain texts of the majority such as those related to purchasing power or unemployment insurance.

“We are at a moment, after the failure of the presidential elections, which is a moment of weakness,” Bruno Retailleau acknowledged in France Info.

“Why would we choose this moment of weakness to do hara-kiri?” the leader of the LR senators continued. Above all because, according to him, a dissolution would lead “again [à] a macronista majority in the Assembly”. “We will not have advanced one iota”, stresses who, like Éric Ciotti, seeks the presidency of LR.

When asked about the same topic on the microphone of BFMTV-RMC, the latter got in touch. “The debate is very far from that,” he said. And to change the theme immediately:

“What is needed is to present an alternative project to the French one”. He insists: “We have to rebuild an alternative, an alternation, a responsible, serious project, that’s what I’m working on.”

A “path of responsibility”

Facing the next presidential elections, Éric Ciotti paints an idyllic landscape for his in-laws. In the first place, he considers that “those who participated directly or indirectly in the construction [du] balance sheet [d’Emmanuel Macron] everyone will be discredited.” His conclusion: “There will be an alternative.”

Or “Monsieur Mélenchon, Madame Rousseau, Madame Le Pen to run the country,” explains the southerner, again putting these three political figures on the same level; that is to say, a “path of responsibility, of recovery, of courage, of effort”. That is, “the one that the Republicans will embody,” according to him.

Nicolas Sarkozy mentioned another perspective last weekend in the columns of the JDD. For the former head of state, Emmanuel Macron must “cross the Rubicon more frankly.” Understand: address the right side of the board and reach a “political agreement” in the National Assembly to govern without resorting to 49.3.

“The alliance, to make it, two are needed. I reject it”, responds Éric Ciotti.

“We do not ally ourselves with a president who has put France in this state. We must turn the page on macronism”.

The deputy for the Alpes-Maritimes prefers to speak in another way, that of “Laurent Wauquiez in 2027”. He has been promising for weeks that if he is elected to head LR, the president of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region will be the LR candidate in the Elysian elections. However, 2027 is a long way off.

Meanwhile, LR is dealing with a difficult position to hold. Between joint votes on certain texts of the majority and much more vague opposition than those of RN and Nupes.
