The Constitutional Council considered this Tuesday that the Nupes bill on the creation of an additional contribution on the exceptional profits of large companies was not in accordance with the Constitution.
The institution specifically invoked article 11 of the text, which defines the legislative referendum procedure.
The Constitutional Council was taken over on September 26 by the president of the National Assembly, the LREM deputy Yaël Braun-Pivet. The left had presented a text that it intended to put to the vote in order to obtain a shared initiative referendum to tax the exceptional profits obtained by certain companies in this period of inflation.
