The Nuclear Research Commission at the initiative of the LR will begin its work this Wednesday

The Republicans intend to “establish the reasons for France’s loss of sovereignty and energy independence” and want to listen to Nicolas Sarkozy and François Hollande.

This Wednesday begins the work in the National Assembly of a parliamentary commission of investigation aimed at establishing the reasons for the loss of sovereignty and energy independence of France. Formed at the request of the Republicans, this commission will examine for six months the contours of French energy policy in recent years.

“We must establish responsibility for this disaster and identify the means to rebuild our energy sovereignty without delay,” he explained in the columns of the Figaro the head of the LR deputies Olivier Marleix in early September.

“Little by little, we have deconstructed the entire French industrial sector because we have allowed people who think that we no longer need electricity in abundance to penetrate the highest level of state decision-making,” Les Républicains Raphaël Schellenberger deputy laments at the microphone of BFMTV.

LR points to Macron and the Netherlands

The Republicans want to find those responsible… and they already have their idea. In their motion for a resolution, the deputies openly point to the five-year terms of Emmanuel Macron and François Hollande.

“The unfavorable path to the atom decided by François Hollande and taken by Emmanuel Macron has brought us against the wall and finally highlights the avant-garde project of Charles de Gaulle. The President of the Republic now asks the French to catch a cold in winter and tighten their belt to make up for his unique errors in judgment,” the elected officials write to the right.

“By confirming François Hollande’s decision to close the Fessenheim power plant in 2020 at the end of an electoral agreement between the PS and EELV, the current tenant of the Elysée now exposes our country to power cuts that seem to be inevitable these years” , can we also read.

The presidential majority ready to “sweep in front of your door”

Therefore, this commission of inquiry promises to be very political. The presidential majority fears a partisan commission. “I have no problem sweeping in front of my door, as long as everyone sweeps in front of their door,” Maud Bregeon launches into the BFMTV microphone.

“The quinquennium of the Netherlands, there will be much to say, but also for the two previous quinquenniums,” he said, thus pointing to the mandates of Nicolas Sarkozy and Jacques Chirac.

Did Hollande and Sarkozy audition?

Strange fact: two former presidents of the Republic were able to be auditioned. Asked by the group of LR deputies, Nicolas Sarkozy gave his agreement in principle, BFMTV learned of the environment of the former head of state.

“He was willing to support the nuclear industry during his five-year term, he is quite willing to express himself about the energy policy choices he made during his term,” this source tells BFMTV.

On François Hollande’s side, there is no formal invitation at this stage. But Olivier Marleix wants him to come to the National Assembly.
