National Refoundation Council: local elected associations finally agree to participate

The main associations of elected officials, who doubted that the National Refoundation Council (CNR) was “the appropriate format” for dialogue with communities, will finally participate in its launch on Thursday after obtaining regular meetings with Emmanuel Macron, they have indicated.

“We will go because we have obtained regular working meetings with the President of the Republic to discuss the specific problems that we encounter in the exercise of our powers,” explained François Sauvadet, president of the Assembly of the departments of France (AdF). ), after a meeting at the Elysee with Emmanuel Macron.

Rural mayors too

After a first five years marked by tensions between the Elysee and the main associations of elected officials, all three in the hands of the opposition, these periodic meetings with the Head of State allow “to start a new cycle of debates”. , welcomed the president of the AdF.

David Lisnard, Carole Delga and François Sauvadet attended the Elysee under the banner of “United Territories”, an organization that brings together its three associations.

For its part, the Association of Rural Mayors (AMRF), which did not participate in the meeting, also indicated that it will participate in the launch of the CNR, with the presence of its vice president Yvan Lubraneski.

Before the meeting, Emmanuel Macron’s entourage had assured that “the president would listen, dialogue and with an outstretched hand” to discuss the issues of the CNR.
