New 49.3: RN and LFI each present another motion of censure

The National Association and La France insoumise each presented a motion of censure on Thursday. However, the probability that they will be adopted is low.

Approved, a motion of censure forces the government to resign.

Marine Le Pen’s group kept the suspense going all day before opting for such a motion.

“Many issues, although crucial for our compatriots, could not be debated”, proclaims the text transmitted to the press, citing in particular “the fight against fraud or the implementation of the national priority and a better recognition of work”.

The 89 far-right elected officials also deplore certain measures, such as “the creation of a fourth year of complementary studies for medical interns.” The government plans to introduce a fourth year internship for general medicine interns, “as a priority” in low-resource territories.

The left denounces “austerity”

On the left, the LFI group was determined on Thursday morning. “We are going to do it, at least on Insoumis’s side, because we must not trivialize 49.3”, explained Éric Coquerel. Then, the leader of the Insoumis deputies, Mathilde Panot, confirmed this deposit “in front of an irresponsible and minority government that only knows the passage in force.”

The motion presented by the party denounces a bill that foresees “a new austerity cure”.

“Nothing in this bill is intended to buy missing equipment, raise wages at least up to inflation, hire needed caretakers and non-carers,” according to the MPs.

Deprived of the absolute majority, the tenant of Matignon activated on Wednesday night, for the third time in a week, the constitutional weapon of 49.3 that allows a law text to be approved without a vote, unless a motion of censure is approved.

LFI does it alone

In response to the first two, on receipts from the state budget and from the Sécu, the Nupes alliance had presented two motions. But even before the vote, and with a budget marathon that could reach a total of ten 49.3 in mid-December, their differences in internal strategies were heard: LFI favorable to systematic deposits, the rest of the Nupes ( socialists, communists, ecologists) much less. So it’s not too surprising that LFI is going it alone this time, at least for the motion filing.

“We are still disgusted by the practice of 49.3 and all the budgetary work (of the executive) will deserve new motions. However, we believe that it is not the right choice to trivialize motions of censure,” Communist Pierre Dharréville told AFP. .

His group would have “preferred to achieve a shared strategy” on the left, but “respects” LFI’s decision and says it is “ready to vote on the motion.” The Socialists have not yet taken a position. And environmentalists haven’t discussed it yet.

RN votes for Nupes

The surprise concentration on Monday of the voices of the RN to one of Nupes’s motions – “a punch in the stomach”, for the head of the PS deputies, Boris Vallaud – provoked unrest in the bases and an avalanche of attacks from the presidency. countryside.

Emmanuel Macron lashed out on Wednesday night “the cynicism” and “the disorder” of the opposition, accusing the left of having gone “hand in hand” with the National Group. An “insult”, “unworthy” comments, responded the deputies of the left.

The motions are expected to be debated on Monday. However, they have almost no chance of overthrowing the government. If they don’t pass, the 2023 Social Security budget bill will be considered approved on first reading and will go to the Senate.
