Posters, brochures, local federations… How Renaissance seeks activists to survive Macron

The presidential party is deploying a major communication campaign to relaunch the movement, which currently has only 27,000 members. The movement also seeks to anchor itself at the local level and draws on a number of former party figures, such as Christophe Castaner and Richard Ferrand.

An urgent affiliation campaign. The presidential party launches a huge communication operation with tens of thousands of posters and leaflets to attract new activists. The movement has done everything possible to convince.

“When we saw the figures for Stéphane Séjourné’s election, some of them came out a bit from the closet. We weren’t expecting a staggering figure, but still…” explains a contributor to Renaissance, the new name of La République en Marche.

From a movement tailored for Macron to a party

Less than 12,500 members voted last September to elect the new general training delegate. A tiny figure for a party with around 27,000 members, a far cry from the 400,000 activists claimed the day after Emmanuel Macron’s victory in 2017.

What to take out the heavy artillery. Next week a broad poster campaign will be launched with the aim of putting up 200,000 posters with the face of the head of state, honorary president of the movement.

Another poster will also be distributed, taking up the party’s “letter of values” (citizens, Europeans, free, progressive, daring, environmentalists, feminists, united) with a QR code at the bottom of the poster that links to the Renaissance. place

“Our idea is to make sure that we go from a movement founded around the person of Emmanuel Macron to a political party united around big ideas. The president wants a party that survives him”, sums up Senator Xavier Iacovelli, member of the board of directors of BFMTV.com.

A brochure to praise the measures of the Executive

Meanwhile, the party is launching a major media operation for its membership campaign around government measures to fight inflation, the highest since 1987.

We will find there the figures that the president already insisted on during his interview on Wednesday night: France is better than its neighbors in terms of price increases thanks, in particular, to the tariff shield on the price of gas and electricity.

“It is always clearer to talk about our measures in a brochure than between two media brawls. And if, beyond convincing the French of the value of our actions, it allows people to join Renaissance, we will be very happy”, explains Loïc. Signor, the party’s spokesman.

To achieve a long-term anchor, the organization also wants to create a territorial anchor, which until now has been almost non-existent. Renacimiento will organize next January the internal election of the departmental assemblies to designate the heads of the federations.

A list of regional ambassadors, appointed Thursday night during the executive office, will also stand alongside activists to encourage membership with incumbents.

Olivier Véran, the government spokesman will be in charge of the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes Region, while the Minister Delegate for the Budget, Gabriel Attal for Île-de-France. Other key figures of the party, which lost the general elections, such as Christophe Castaner, in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, and Richard Ferrand in Brittany, will also be mobilized.
