“Recover the popular electorate”: rebel deputies criticize Ruffin’s analysis

The deputy for the Somme laments the strategy of rebellious France, which he accuses of “abandoning” the lower classes. Rebel elected officials accuse him of “participating in the logic of dividing the people of our adversaries.”

An interview that makes people in the dugouts of rebellious France react. The deputy François Ruffin had harsh words this Tuesday morning about the left’s strategy against the more modest French. “You have to ask the left if he wants to recover this popular electorate, from the France of the yellow vests”, he launched on France inter the elected official, who is part of the LFI group in the National Assembly.

“For me I hear certain signs that are signs of abandonment,” says the former journalist from Fakir.

“Why mute our good scores in ’93?”

The criticism is not to the taste of his colleague Alexis Corbière who points to the scores of the union of the left in the departments of Seine-Saint-Denis and Val-de-Marne. In ’93, all the deputies come from the ranks of the Nupes, even if the department has distinguished itself by a record of abstention in mainland France.

“Why silence our good scores in the departments that are also popular?”, the deputy remarks on his Twitter account, recalling that the most modest people are more likely to abstain than to vote in favor of the National Association.

One in three workers (33%) shunned the polls compared to 26% of executives in the first round of the presidential elections, underlines an Ipsos survey. 31% of people who earn less than 1,250 euros a month voted for Marine Le Pen in the first round compared to 25% for Jean-Luc Mélenchon, highlights the same study.

“Logic of the division of our adversaries”

In the Hauts-de-France region where François Ruffin comes from, the RN, on the other hand, was full board. A quarter of the MPs from Marine Le Pen’s party were elected there.

“We are here in lands that have been the crucible of socialism and communism for more than a century and sometimes I hear that they are territories that have never accepted democracy and that is why it would be almost natural that they are turning to the RN”, he still regrets the parliamentarian of the Somme.

The rebel deputy Antoine Léaument does not share the observation, accusing him of “participating in the logic of dividing the people of our adversaries” by “opposing the citizens of the districts and the countryside”. “People are in the big cities as well as in the countryside,” adds his colleague Bastien Lachaud. “Divide, oppose, that is the logic of the adversary. It is a dead end.”

This is not the first time François Ruffin has made this observation. In a long interview with World then to the obs, at the beginning of the summer he advocated “the reconquest of France from the yellow vests” focusing his speech on work, before returning to the subject during his presence at the green summer universities at the end of August.
