Three deputies, who were not re-elected in the last legislative elections, did not meet the deadline to submit their declaration of assets once their mandate ended, according to their files that can be consulted on the HATVP website, founded in this case to refer to the matter. to the prosecutor of the Republic.
Patrice Perrot, former Renaissance MP for Nièvre, Pascal Lavergne, former Renaissance MP for Gironde, and Rachel Keke, former LFI MP for Val-de-Marne, saw their personal files marked “unfiled declaration” on the website of the High Authority for Transparency in Public Life.
A seemingly harmless mention, but it implies that the agency did not receive these legally imposed asset declarations in time, even “once the friendly recovery procedures had been exhausted,” according to the High Authority’s site.
Fine of 15,000 euros
The law obliges parliamentarians to submit a declaration of assets “within two months following the end of their duties”, that is, August 9 for parliamentarians defeated in the last elections and whose mandate ended on June 9. Traditionally, the HATVP only publishes this notice once it has referred the matter to the prosecutor for failure to comply with this obligation.
Questioned by AFP, the Créteil prosecutor’s office confirmed on Monday the opening of an investigation into Rachel Keke for “not declaring her financial situation” and having entrusted the investigations to the department’s judicial police, adding that this non-declaration is “punished with a fine of 15,000 euros and with the deprivation of the right to stand for election for a maximum period of five years.”
