Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban will be received this Tuesday afternoon, October 22, at the Elysée by Emmanuel Macron. Earlier, at the end of the afternoon, he met with the leader of the RN deputies, Marine Le Pen, in the National Assembly, as BFMTV learned.
Orban’s visit as part of his presidency of the EU Council
Viktor Orban’s visit to France “occurs within the framework of the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union currently held by Hungary,” said the French presidency. It will be received on the eve of the next summits of the European Political Community (EPC) and the European Union that will be held on November 7 and 8 in Budapest.
This meeting with Emmanuel Macron will therefore be “an opportunity to prepare (the two) summits.”
During the working dinner, “the two leaders will also discuss the different aspects of the bilateral relationship, in particular in the energy, defense and transport sectors,” the Elysée added.
The French president meets regularly with Hungary’s nationalist prime minister, a difficult partner within the EU, before major European meetings.
