“Stop victimizing yourself”: Binet welcomes the SNCF’s decision not to distribute Bardella’s book

The general secretary of the CGT defends the “wise decision” of the SNCF not to broadcast announcements about the work of the president of the National Assembly (RN). Their union had asked the public company to change course. It is “a propaganda book”, bothers Sophie Binet.

A victory for the CGT. Advertising for Jordan Bardella’s book will finally not be broadcast at train stations. The SNCF was questioned on 17 October by several unions, including the one led by Sophie Binet, in relation to a large-scale advertising campaign for what I’m looking forwork of the president of the RN. The CGT denounced “a provocation.”

“It is still very shocking that advertisements for a far-right book are published on stations that are places of public service. The principle of neutrality of the public service is simply applied,” judges the general secretary of the central office this Tuesday, October 29. on BFMTV.

“Bardella must “stop his circus”

Jordan Bardella, for his part, protested this decision, accusing the transport company of “giving in to the intimidation of a minority of radicalized activists.”

Sophie Binet’s response: “you must stop your circus and stop victimizing yourself”, hailing “the wise decision” taken by the SNCF.

Betting heavily on the RN leader’s first book, Hachette Livre, the mayor of Fayard, owned by conservative billionaire Vincent Bolloré, had negotiated with the SNCF advertising agency at the beginning of autumn the reservation of 581 advertising panels on the train. seasons.

In total, a hundred stations were affected throughout France. This large-scale advertising campaign was then strongly criticized by unions railway worker. The CGT had denounced “a provocation”, while Sud Rail had stressed its “total opposition” to the RN.

A “systematically done” ban

In the process, the SNCF fell behind. Mediatransports, the SNCF advertising agency, had however indicated that it could “reject a poster campaign, even if it was “reserved”, recalling its “obligation of neutrality”.

The SNCF finally decided this Monday not to broadcast Jordan Bardella’s advertising campaign. The company specified that the image of the poster contravened “the principles of neutrality” of the advertising agency.

“This is what is done systematically. Before him there was a Waly Dia poster, which fights against the extreme right and which was banned by the SNCF in the name of political neutrality,” said Sophie Binet.

Last January, the show’s poster comedian Waly Dia had been banned by the RATP and the SNCF due to its “political nature incompatible with the duty of neutrality required in public transport” and that “could be considered defamatory or insulting.”

The same story of the singer Bilal Hassani in December 2021. The cover of Têtu, which represented the artist in a religiously inspired pose, was not broadcast due to its “denominational” nature.

“There is no time to waste” to read Bardella’s book

However, the SNCF is not in the habit of canceling advertising campaigns linked to books by political figures. Bruno Le Maire, then stationed in Bercy, and Élisabeth Borne, who had just left 20 months in Matignon For example, both benefited from advertising panels at the SNCF. Ségolène Royal and Nicolas Sarkozy also saw their works featured on the stations.

Asked whether or not she will read the work of Jordan Bardella, a political opponent of the CGT, the head of the union does not pretend.

“I no longer have enough time to read all the interesting books that are coming out, so I can’t waste time reading a propaganda book,” judges Sophie Binet.

Jordan Bardella’s book was printed in 150,000 copies, a very large print run for a political work.
