He tries to convert the controversy to the benefit of his party. Jordan Bardella returned to the podium this Saturday afternoon during his investiture speech at the head of the National Group on the racist statements of an RN deputy in the National Assembly.
“Behind the disgusting and unfair trial of our deputy, they actually want to prohibit any questioning of the immigration policy carried out in our country for decades,” launched the new head of the movement, pointing to “La Nupes” and “En Marche.”
“A Real Manhunt”
Grégoire de Fournas, elected official of Gironde, received this Friday the maximum sanction provided for by the Palais-Bourbon regulations, after having launched on Thursday in the hemicycle “that returns to Africa”, during a question to the government of the rebel Carlos Martens Bilongo.
The deputy, black, challenged the executive about “the drama of illegal immigration”, evoking the fate of 234 migrants who are currently on an SOS Méditerranée ship looking for a port to dock.
“In the National Assembly, the professionals of collective indignation manipulated a misunderstood statement by a RN deputy who mentioned the logical return of illegal ships to their ports of origin. They dedicated themselves to a true hunt for “man against deputy of the Republic”, Jordan Bardella advanced even more during his first speech as president of the RN.
Extremely rare penalties
In the face of the outcry raised by this exit, Grégoire de Fournas, for his part, assured that his words were distorted and explained that he had targeted the migrant “boat”. Without apologizing to his colleague, he said he was “sorry for the misunderstanding” caused by his comments in an email.
The RN deputy is deprived this Friday of half of his parliamentary allocation for two months – an amputation of 3,746 euros per month out of a total of 7,493 euros. The parliamentarian will also not be able to return to the Palais-Bourbon during the next fifteen days of session.
This is the second time since 1958 that the institution pronounces this sentence, the most severe that its regulations foresee.
