Another act of loyalty. After widely beating Louis Aliot on Saturday in the race for the presidency of Marine Le Pen’s movement, Jordan Bardella evokes the very likely candidacy of the patron saint of the National Rally deputies in 2027.
“I think that when we have the legitimacy, the popularity, the notoriety of Marine Le Pen and when we have 17% of the vote 10 years ago and when we make almost one in two voters in the last presidential election, with 42%, her candidacy is obvious”, launched the MEP this Monday morning on RTL.
Le Pen evoked “exceptional circumstances” to “go out again”
The new head of the party had already made an act of loyalty during his investiture speech this weekend at the Maison de la Mutualité in Paris, advancing “everything to owe him”, after a lightning journey within the movement.
At the top of his roadmap for the coming years, between the reactivation of local federations and the desire to train a new generation of activists, is, of course, the conquest of power. During his induction speech, Jordan Bardella also promised his supporters that the party “will succeed Macron.”
Marine Le Pen delivered a more nuanced speech last September in the columns of the newspaper West of France.
“You should never say never in politics, but exceptional circumstances would really be needed for me to go to a fourth presidential election,” the Pas-de-Calais deputy explained at the time.
The party in pole position
Since his statements, the political situation has hardly changed, but RN seems to be in a position of strength. The movement would thus emerge stronger from a dissolution of the Assembly, with a perspective of 21% of the votes collected compared to 19.2% last June, according to an Ifop-Fiducial survey published in the JDD this Sunday.
Jordan Bardella’s words also have merit: to agree with the entire party around the candidacy of Marine Le Pen, which is unanimous internally. Good news since strong tensions appeared in the movement on Saturday. The mayor of Hénin-Beaumont, Steeve Briois, accused the MEP of “beginning a purge” against internal opponents of him.
