The Liberal Initiative (IL) today asked the Home Secretary for access to alleged internal reports on SIRESP showing “serious flaws and anomalies” in this system.
Speaking to Lusa, Liberal deputy Rui Rocha explained that it concerns the Civil Protection Association (APROSOC) complaint to the Attorney General of the Republic “based on the existence of internal reports from Siresp that the existence of of serious defects and anomalies.” of this communication network.
According to the IL deputy, it is “a serious situation” and that is why the group has submitted a request to the Minister of the Interior, José Luís Carneiro, for “public access to these reports, as it is an extremely relevant public interest, which has to do with the protection and safety of citizens”.
“We believe that if there are such reports, they should be accessible so that we can understand what we are talking about specifically and then see what views and actions need to be taken,” defended.
According to Rui Rocha, this request to the government is based on the association’s complaint that was shared with “general parliamentary groups”.
“Efficient and timely functioning of a communications network during emergencies is essential and the disruptions recorded over the years continue to endanger the security of the population,” IL defends in the request submitted to parliament today. .
For the liberals, “knowledge of the content of internal reports assessing and diagnosing the functioning of the SIRESP (Integrated System of Emergency and Security Networks of Portugal) network is crucial for the political control activities of the Assembly of the Republic”.
