Pension reform: Olivier Faure affirms that “the account is not there yet”

Talks were held throughout the week in Bercy with opposition and government politicians to reach an agreement on pension reform and avoid censorship. Guest of BFM Politique this Sunday, January 12, Olivier Faure explains that, for the moment, the socialists do not find what they are looking for.

“It’s not a simulation, so it takes time.” While the week was dedicated to debates in Bercy between opposition politicians and the government on pension reform, Olivier Faure, secretary general of the Socialist Party, estimated this Sunday, January 12 in BFM Politique that “the account is still It’s not there.”

“We have both demands but also solutions that allow us to move forward. The Government has its own red lines and we are looking at the ways that allow conciliation,” explained the socialist, describing “a real discussion where we exchange.” “

“I don’t know what the Prime Minister will decide or what conditions we will be in next Tuesday,” added Olivier Faure, suggesting that the Socialists will be received by François Bayrou “before his general policy declaration”, on Tuesday, January 14.

“Do not censor for the sake of censorship”

“The evidence is that contact must take place because we must guarantee what the Prime Minister will say on a certain number of issues,” he explained, adding that in the current state of discussions, the socialists would “censure” Bayrou’s government. .

“But my personal wish and that of the socialists is that they do not censure me for censoring,” he criticized, reaffirming his position in favor of the “suspension” of the pension reform.

“We want to ensure that we have guaranteed our pay-as-you-go pension system and that we have done so by not placing the burden of financing on the most precarious,” he explained.

For the moment, nothing has been leaked from these debates, but both on the left and in the majority, some are hoping for a gesture towards socialists, environmentalists and communists to reach non-censorship.

Rebellious France, which refused to enter into these negotiations, has already announced a motion of censure, which will be examined on Thursday or Friday.
