Constitutional revision. PSD “shrinks” PR for a single seven-year term

The PSD will deliver to parliament this Friday a draft constitutional reform that would allow the president of the republic to no longer serve two consecutive five-year terms, but only one, seven years.

This will be one of 40 proposals for a project the party says is “realistic, reform-oriented and distinctive”.

The Social Democrats will propose that the number of delegates to be reduced from the current 230 to a minimum of 181 and a maximum of 215🇧🇷 and that the minimum age to vote to be reduced from 18 to 16 years🇧🇷

They also want to change the length of the legislature to hold parliamentary elections in May/June (currently in October) and change the start and end dates of the Legislative Assembly.

In the field of health, the PSD defends that “universal access, in sufficient time and quality, to the necessary health care” should be done “by using the complementarity with private and social health services”.

The state, on the other hand, must provide “universal and free access to nurseries and to pre-primary and secondary education (this is also mandatory)”, also stating that “the state shall provide a public network of educational institutions that meet the needs of the entire population by using the complementarity with private and cooperative education”

In the chapter on regional autonomy, the PSD defends “de extinction of the representative of the republic” with transfer of respective powers to the president of the republic”, these are carried out by a representative, appointed by him, by virtue of the law.
