Marine Le Pen, president of the National Rally group in the National Assembly, explained to the Sunday newspaper (JDD) that Matignon’s position did not interest him. “I don’t want to be prime minister. I have other ambitions,” she said in an interview published on Saturday night.
She was questioned shortly before about the possibility of a dissolution of the Assembly, a threat used by Emmanuel Macron in the face of the opposition’s motions of no confidence. “We could come out much more powerful than today, even capable of having a Prime Minister,” estimates Marine Le Pen, adding that “there is enough talent in the RN to fulfill this role.” But she can only be seen at the Elysee.
“If I decide – which is not yet the case – to be a candidate again in the 2027 presidential elections, it will be to preside over the country. Not to govern it, ”she assures.
Marine Le Pen stresses at the same time that “the conditions must be met” for her to run again in the presidential elections. Because, “a presidential election is a context, public opinion, adversaries, victory capacities… That is all that will have to be analyzed when the time comes. And it hasn’t sounded yet.”
According to a survey by Ifop-Fiducial published in the weekly on November 6, the movement would thus emerge strengthened from a dissolution of the Assemblywith a perspective of 21% of the votes collected compared to 19.2% last June.
