The left accuses François Bayrou of “betrayal” on Monday by closing the door on a return of the retirement age at age 62 and asks him to allow the “conclave” to work on the reform among social partners.
“The Government must let the social partners work and to Parliament, then, legislate. To the social brutality of the reform, the democratic brutality of its adoption, does François Bayrou intend to add the brutality of the betrayal of the given word … and written?”, The head of the socialist subverteds Boris Vallaud launched in X.
“It’s completely wrong”
François Bayrou “is completely wrong and kills a hope of returning to discussion, respect for trade union organizations, the economic world, the actors that make democracy,” added the mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo in RTL.
For François Ruffin, ex-LFI that is in the ecological group, Prime Minister’s statements are “obviously” a reason for government censorship. “In the end, there must be a vote of the assembly that says what retirement model we want to go,” he argued in France 2.
In search of avoiding the censorship of the Socialist Party, the Head of Government had reopened in January the Archive of the Reform led by Éisabeth Borne and entrusted to social couples the task of reaching a new agreement.
The return to 62, “is not the only track”
When asked Sunday about the possibility of this return to 62, against 64 years in current law, the prime minister, while giving his confidence in social democracy, “no” replied.
“I don’t think the parametric question (…) that is, the question of saying ‘this is the age for everyone’, I don’t think it’s the only clue,” he said.
If the Minister of Economy, Éric Lombard, recalled in BFMTV that it was “to social partners to decide”, the Minister of Public Accounts, Amélie de Montchalin, was in the direction of François Bayrou when estimating on Monday “not realistic” in the context of the objective established by the government of a return to the financial balance in 2030.
On Friday, former Prime Minister Édouard Philippe had judged him without Rodeos, the conclave of social partners “completely on the ground” with respect to the new international situation and the will of the government to increase military spending.
