Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau began his getaway in Morocco for a work visit to the strengthening of the Moroccan Association, BFMTV learned this Sunday, April 13, according to a source of the entourage of the Ministry of Interior.
This work visit is an extension of the meeting between the two ministers during the visit to Morocco, on October 30, 2024, of the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron.
He arrived on Sunday night in Rabat, Bruno Retailleau’s dinner with his Moroccan counterpart Abdeloufi Laftit. Several issues will be discussed during your visit, especially about the cooperation of migration, the fight against organized crime and terrorism, drug trafficking or even cooperation in fire fighting.
Discussions on migration policy
Several visits are also planned. As of this Monday, Bruno Retailleau will meditate on the Mohamed-V mausoleum, then it will begin around 10 am (11 am, French time) a working meeting with its Moroccan counterpart. At the end of this meeting, a common press conference will be held.
The minister’s entourage assures BFMTV that, on the side of migratory questions, it works very well today with Morocco. The objective of this visit is above all to notice these progress and also consolidate and amplify them. “France and Morocco have a very high quality migration dialogue, particularly in the fight against irregular immigration,” said the source of the entourage.
In irregular immigration, the minister wishes to consolidate the advances obtained since the end of October, in particular on consular license and re -entering volumes, “said this source.
The issuance rate of consularing Morocco when France requested 26% in 2024 to 52% at the beginning of 2025. There is an increase of +60% of the distance to Morocco during the January 2025 period, compared to the same period in 2024.
