Is the boss war be folded? A few hours before the closing of memberships with the Republicans, before the election of its president is celebrated, a favorite seems to be taking shape between Bruno Retailleau and Laurent Wauquiez, according to an IFOP study for opinion. The first is acclaimed among LR supporters, 65% of whom want to see him direct the right party against 35% for the president of the Correct Republican Group in the National Assembly.
Bruno Retailleau is very favorite with LR supporters in almost all metropolitan regions: 72% of those living in Proven-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, 81% in the Pays of the LOC and even 83% of them in Hauts-de-France are said to be for Beauvau’s tenant. The only region that resists it: Auverne-Rhône-Alpes, chaired by Laurent Wauquiez, which is preferred by 66% of supporters.
Also favorite for the presidential elections of 2027
In addition, Bruno Retilleau is perceived as the favorite political figure to represent Republicans in the next presidential elections in 2027. First cited by 49%of the interviewees, again before Laurent Wauquiez (23%) but also Xavier Bertrand (17%) that is also projected towards this electoral deadline. The next Valérie Pecresse (5%), David Lisnard (4%) and then Gérard Larcher (2%).
The election of the President of the Republicans must be held at the Congress of the Party that will take place on May 17 and 18. Around 100,000 people must participate in the vote. Invited this Thursday morning of BFMTV and RMC, Laurent Wauquiez said he was “convinced” that he will win the president’s presidency.
“I propose that we are in our role, Bruno Retailleau in the Interior Ministry and requires full time, on the other hand, what I can bring (…) and especially a free word because I am not under the authority of Emmanuel Macron and François Bayrou,” he continued.
For their part, Bruno Retailleau “expect” to win, believing that if the elections “took place today or in the next few days, I will have confidence.”
The investigation was carried out with a sample of 1,732 supporters of the Les Républicins party of a sample of 22,073 people, representative of the 18 -year -old French population.
The representativeness of the sample was guaranteed by the quota method (sex, age, profession of the questioned person) after stratification by region and category of agglomeration.
The interviews were conducted by an online self -administered questionnaire from February 18 to April 8, 2025.
