The Orleans Administrative Court, seized by the Orléans Loiret Palestine collective after the City Council’s refusal to rent a room for a conference at Rima Hassan, decided on Wednesday to suspend this negative and order the city to make a room available.
“After a hearing held this morning when he heard the arguments of the association and the commune, he (summer) decided to suspend the rejection of the room and order the city to maintain the provision of a room on Saturday for the planned conference,” within 24 hours, the Orleans Administrative Court announced in a press release.
The judge in the summary procedures had been seized on Monday by the Orléans Loiret Palestine Collective, in the initiative of the conference entitled “Palestine: But where did the International Law go?” And in particular organized by MEP LFI Rima Hassan.
“Public order disorders”
The association had previously reserved the Chamber on October 16, but the city said its refusal on May 7, particularly motivated “by the risks of public disorders, due to the local context, the national context and the presence of Rima Hassan during this conference,” said the Administrative Court in its order.
The mayor of the Orléans Serge Grouard (DVD) justified this decision in a message published on his Facebook page “for a context of exacerbated tensions”, as well as a “worrying increase in anti -Semitism”, citing in particular the aggression of the rabbi of the city last March.
After the decision of the Administrative Court, the municipality for its part made “the law of the judicial decision required by the provision of a municipal hall in the Association of Palestinas of the Orléans de Loiret.”
“According to this decision, we will respect our legal obligations,” said the city in a statement.
Several prohibited conferences
The conference must be held at Eiffel Salle on Saturday at 5.30 pm, as initially requested, according to the City Council.
Until now, several establishments have prohibited the possession of the Hassan Rima Conference, a 32-year-old lawyer, such as the University of Lille, Paris-Dauphine and the Po Paris or Strasbourg sciences. Decisions for some considered illegal for justice.
Rima Hassan is attacked by an investigation for “apologism for terrorism” for having estimated in an interview, after Hamas attacks on the Israeli soil on October 7, 2023, which is “true” that the Palestinian Islamist movement is carrying out a legitimate action. A truncated interview extract, he said.
