Against pension reform, the battle continues in the hemicle. Since the adoption in Fórceps and promulgation, on April 15, 2023, the law began the legal age of 64 years against 62 years ago, the issue of a repeal is constantly returning to the National Assembly.
This Thursday, June 5, the deputies of the democratic and republican group on the left (RDA), which brings together the chosen communist and overseas officials, again put the issue on the table during their “parliamentary niche.” One day during which they have their hands on the lower room agenda until midnight.
“The assembly could never vote”
“Contrary to what certain members of the Government sometimes say and the President of the Republic, the French have not converted the pension reform page”, Judge Stéphane Phae, head of the Group of the RDA, with BFMTV.com.
For him, this law “was one of the reasons for the vote of sanction (towards the presidential field) during the last legislative elections.” He also quotes recent surveys to support his words. According to an IFOP study commissioned by the CGT, published last April, two thirds of the French want to repeal the reform.
In addition, the communist underlined that “the Assembly has never been able to vote” in this text, while Elisabeth Borne had used article 49-3 of the Constitution, due to lack of being able to trust with certainty in a sufficient majority.
Organizing a vote is even more important in the eyes of the GDR group, since it gives little credit to the “conclave”, sought by François Bayrou, around social partners. “The hope that could be put by the reopening of social negotiations became short due to the limitations that the prime minister, particularly to the age of age,” said Stéphane Little.
The CGT, which no longer participates in these exchanges, is in the same line and requested the general strike this Thursday.
New attempt, new method
There is a question: beyond these justifications, can retirement opponents really really wait for a victory, while several attempts have already been carried out, without success, in recent months?
Other groups (Liot, RN, LFI) have collected disappointments: the texts had not been adopted by their financial admissibility or due to an obstruction of the government base. This time, communist officials have a very precise idea in mind and try another method.
It is not about presenting a bill, but a resolution proposal. Size size, this has a non -linking range. It will not be able to lead to the repeal of pension reform.
But it has an advantage, highlighted by the GDR group in its text: the resolution proposal “cannot suffer limitations linked to financial admissibility”, or “be the object of an obstruction by means of amendment.”
“The adoption of this resolution would allow the government to mean the attachment of national representation regarding democratic rules registered in our Constitution,” defends the elected officials. “A government worried about respecting our democracy will not be able to maintain the result of this vote,” they expect.
“Political weight”
While this vote has, on paper, all the possibilities of being favorable, Stéphane Little wants to believe in its political reach:
“We know how much this reform is is the iconic reform of the double five -year mandate of Emmanuel Macron. However, we are a democracy. As soon as the Parliament expresses its desire to repeal, we have a political weight to demand from the prime minister that takes into account the vote of the National Assembly,” he said.
If this were not the case, the latter evokes the possibility of depositing a motion of censure. This once again would bring back the issue of pensions in the hemicycle.
