The French president, Emmanuel Macron, gave a press conference this Friday, June 13, a press conference at the Elysée in reaction to Israeli attacks against Iran that take place that same day.
“The situation created by these attacks opens a new era of war in the region and must lead Israel to finally accept fire, the liberation of hostages and the resumption of political discussions” with Hamas, Emmanuel Macron estimates.
The “Iranian threat”
“I said before Prime Minister Netanyahu, because if there is one thing that unites Israel with all its neighbors in the region, it is the Iranian threat,” continues the French president.
Due to Israeli bombings against Iran, Emmanuel Macron says that this threat “has become a priority today.” According to him, “the hours, days, the next few weeks will be structured by the risks of the Iranian response.”
For “the security of Israel and the entire region more than ever, it is the very political and safe interest of Israel from a high fire and obtaining the liberation of Hamas’ hostages,” says Emmanuel Macron.
“I think it is this window that we have to understand and it is the work that we will do in the next few days, with Israel, on the one hand, but also with the United States, Qatar, Egypt and all the negotiators who are involved in this discussion,” he adds.
Emmanuel Macron also reaffirmed Israel’s right to defend herself, while saying that France would have no role in an offensive against Iran.
