Links between Islamism and political movements? A validated investigation commission in the Assembly, LFI denounces an “attack”

First rejected, the Research Commission sought by Laurent Wauquiez (LR) in “Links” between LFI and “Islamist networks” was finally validated thanks to the votes of the presidential field and the extreme right. If the LFI was specifically mentioned at the beginning, it is now a matter of “representatives of political movements.”

The National Assembly finally validated on Wednesday, June 18, the creation of a research commission promoted by the correct republican group on the links between political leaders and networks that support “terrorist action or the propagation of Islamist ideology”, a particular directed in LFI Hollow.

At the beginning of June, the Law Commission inadmissible a first request from the Laurent Wauquiez (LR) group, but the latter had returned to office when presenting a new proposal for a resolution to create this investigation commission, with an altered draft.

If the first version pointed out in its presentation of the reasons “of the convenience and support links among the elected officials of the Republic, mainly of rebel France and Islamist or even terrorist networks”, the second is happy to mention “representatives of political movements.”

This time, the Investigation Commission was declared admissible, with 29 votes to 27, in the Law Committee.

Favorable votes of the presidential field and the extreme right

“Despite the attempted extreme left of blocking this investigation commission at all costs, we have been good. With its validation, we send a clear message: no more complacency towards the commitments of certain political forces with the Islamists and the enemies of France,” said Laurent Wauquiez in a statement.

“With this Investigation Commission, the National Assembly has prerogatives to establish the nature and scope of the links between political movements and Islamist networks, exhibit possible cliental practices or even prevent the risk of assignment during future elections,” argues the correct group.

The three macronist groups, those of the RN and their ciotist allies provided their creation to their creation, unlike the left and the Liot centrist.

This commission “always intends to attack France Rebelde, even if our movement is no longer mentioned in the text,” said Deputy LFI Gabrielle Cathala.

For the socialist deputy Paul Christophle, the creation of this commission creates “a dangerous precedent”, by diverting “a precious parliamentary control tool and being serious to investigate a political opponent that feeds the confusion of genres that can only feed the distrust of our institutions.”
