It is a deficit of several hundred thousand euros: in the Les Républicins party, about 50% of the parliamentarians are not updated with their contribution for the year 2025, according to information from the Bulletin of “Playbook Paris” in politician, confirmed by BFMTV.com this Thursday, June 19.
LR’s new Treasurer, Pierre Danon, appointed after Bruno Retailleau’s election last month, wrote to the various elected officials to ask them to “regularize” their situation.
“It’s classic”
In other words, the people in question are called to pay a contribution of 5% of their income from the correct training training, according to the provisions of the Statutes of the Party.
For LR, this represents a non -negligible sum of a little less than two years from the next presidential elections. If his 160 senators and deputies gave him this participation, the party would recover around 600,000 euros per year, calculates the politician.
With BFMTV.com, Bruno Retailleau’s entourage confirms the existence of this email. “It is classic to receive this revival. It does not mean that they are not members. There is membership (30 euros per year, note) and the chosen rate that represents a higher cost,” they tell us.
LR “did not give us a penny”
Given these payments, the various LR elected officials contacted by BFMTV.com did not fall on their chair.
One of them presented two reasons for the current situation. First, the alliance of the former head of the party, Éric Ciotti, with the national demonstration after the dissolution of the National Assembly decided by Emmanuel Macron on June 9, 2024.
“We had no president, so we didn’t know who was going to go money,” he explains, while the deputy of the Maritime Alps remained in LR’s head for several months, even if the party executives tried to exclude it.
The second explanation comes from the early legislative elections that followed the solution. LR “did not give us a penny,” says this same elected official.
Another deputy points out that this situation had already happened during the previous deadline, in 2022. “Usually, the party helps us with the legislative elections. This time, this was not the case. In return, a certain number of parliamentarians estimated that they did not have to contribute,” he explains.
The absence of funds explained by the historic Bérézina in the presidential election of 2022. The party had not obtained any reimbursement of the costs of its campaign, not reaching the fateful threshold of 5%. Therefore, a call had been established to donations to succeed in completing the budget, collecting more than five million euros.
The return of optimism with the emergence of the rebels
If these different elements could feed “a form of anger” in the parliamentary ranks of the right, the time is optimistic. A name appears regularly: that of Bruno Retailleau.
The Minister of the Interior and the head of LR has been in full ascent for several months, to the point that he is among the possible candidates for the Elysée. At the same time, its formation resumes colors, a confirmed trend in different recent period elections.
Direct consequence: The LR brand resumes the value. And any questions that this development will lead to certain elected officials to pay their contribution.
