A photo without which the presidential majority would probably have felt good. Deputy Patrick Vignal (Renaissance) marched last Saturday along with several RN chosen to defend bullfighting.
“I had promised to be by his side,” the Macronist Hérault parliamentarian tweeted.
An unlikely ban
This demonstration in defense of the traditions of Provence and Languedoc, which brought together several hundred people in the Gard, also welcomed Julien Sanchez, RN mayor of Beaucaire, as well as Yohan Gilet, RN deputy for the department.
The socialist mayor of the town that hosted the event was present, as well as an elected representative of Renaissance Nîmes or even the LR senator, Laurent Burgoa.
The demonstration was aimed at defending bullfighting, while rebel MP Aymeric Caron introduced a bill to ban it. Examined next Thursday, however, it has little chance of being adopted, after the unfavorable opinion of the justice commission.
On the menu for this day, organized by the union of young people from Provence and Languedoc, there was a selection test for breeding bulls and two breeds, without slaughtering.
“‘Finito’ the Republican Prey”
The presence of Patrick Vignal together with the elected RNs reacted on the benches of their opponents.
“‘Finito’ the Republican prey as the others would say: a macronista deputy boasts along with elected officials of the RN under the pretext of defending bullfighting. A thought for all the ‘left-wing macronistas'”, rebuked the deputy La France, insoumise Nathalie Oziol, elected in the neighboring constituency to that of Patrick Vignal.
“Let’s stop humiliating the territories”
The criticism stung his political opponent who remembers having beaten RN three times in the legislative elections.
“Let’s stop humiliating the territories with measures that do not interest anyone. We cannot leave the defense of our culture to the RN or let the Parisian sores humiliate the people with this type of prohibition,” defends the elected representative of Hérault with BFMTV . com.
Renaissance is deeply divided on whether to ban bullfighting. Although Aurore Bergé had signed a platform in 2021 to end this practice -when she was not yet president of the group-, the movement chose to leave freedom of vote to their elected officials.
200 elected officials and politicians signed a bullfighting platform in the JDD on Saturday, including Christophe Castaner, the former head of the Renaissance deputies, Jean-François Mattéi, who heads the Modem group in the National Assembly or even François Patriat, number one of the macronista group in the Senate.
