The family photo will wait for the beginning of the school year. In Paris, the socialists, communists and environmentalists did not meet this Wednesday, July 9, as planned to form a single list in the first round for the municipal elections of 2026.
This meeting between the different components of the outgoing Parisian majority became a boss, BFMTV learned to the entourage of Emmanuel Grégoire, candidate of the Socialist Party in the capital, without having details about the participants, or the agenda.
The environmental candidate, David Belliard, said Tuesday night in a press release that the initially planned format will not be carried out “due to lack of availability of one and others.”
A reason confirmed by Ian Brossat, the leader of the communists, who also hopes to take the initiative of this meeting on the left. “The idea of a three -way meeting will be at the end of summer or at the beginning of the school year,” said BFMTV senator. This later moment “does not change much”, since it will be a matter of “formalizing a desire to work together,” he believes.
“There is no other option,” according to Ian Brossat
This meeting will be “an opportunity to talk about the meeting on the left” but also “of the need to go beyond the current majority,” said David Belliard in his press release, judging that “there are no irreconcilable projects.”
A reference, even if not cited, France Rebelde, with which Emmanuel Grégoire refuses to make an alliance. For its part, Ian Brossat says he is “ready for all discussions.” “There is no taboo.”
While waiting for this meeting to three, the socialist, the environmentalist and the communist multiply face -to -face meetings. Ian Brossat saw David Belliard and Emmanuel Grégoire in the head last week. “We have known each other for several years, we talked very regularly in Visu or by phone. The dialogue never breaks,” says the communist.
As for David Belliard, he met Emmanuel Grégoire this Tuesday and “he welcomes himself to see that the socialist candidate is part of a dynamic of the Union.”
“We cannot afford to separate. The threat is too great,” Ian Brossat cares, appointing the Minister of Culture, mayor of the seventh group and potential candidate of the Republicans and the Renaissance, Rachida Dati.
“It will be necessary to land on a union list in the first round. There is no other option,” said former Anne Hidalgo housing assistant.
