Montenegro says Costa has “incompetence” and “lack of leadership”.

The PSD chairman this Sunday responded “to the Prime Minister’s complaints” and stated that “those who do not forgive the trust he placed in the Socialist Party are the voters”.

Luís Montenegro, speaking at the closing of the 6th PSD Academy of Local Power, in Foz do Arelho (Caldas da Rainha) reacted to António Costa’s statements on Saturday that the political opponents of the PS have not forgiven the absolute majority won at the last parliamentary elections and “they will do everything they can to jeopardize that stability”.

Referring to the controversies surrounding various members of the government since the start of the legislature, the PSD leader wondered what António Costa was complaining about to conclude that “he must complain about himself (…) his inability, his incompetence, his lack of leadership, perhaps his tiredness of being Prime Minister”🇧🇷

“But if he is tired of being prime minister, that is his problem and Portugal’s too,” he added, underlining that the PSD will continue to denounce “the mistakes and omissions” of the executive and of António Costa. demand that he say whether or not you agree with the approximately 200 proposals to amend the state budget submitted by your party?

After commenting on the statements, “in a bit of a plaintive way”, by António Costa on Saturday, Montenegro accused the government of mistreating municipalities and presenting a state budget that is just “paper, ‘powerpoints’ and no execution”, and concluded that António Costa’s executive is not keeping its word🇧🇷

“This government and this prime minister have a characteristic: the word given is not an honorable word,” the social democratic leader charged, insisting that the executive “made a simulacrum of decentralization, because deep down he does not want to share powers with municipalities or with intermunicipal companies”.

In the speech marking the closing of the Sixth PSD Academy of Local Power, Montenegro stated that what happened “with the decentralization agreement” is what has been happening for seven years with all state budgets”, which are nothing more than “intentions that have not been implemented “.

“Why the hell are we going to believe that this time is what it’s going to be [cumprido o orçamento]while António Costa’s government is the same, with ministers who are the same, or worse,” he wondered.

In front of an audience of more than a hundred social democratic mayors, Montenegro also found it “immoral” that the government does not respect local authorities “in matters that are essential such as [o pagamento] of spending with the pandemic”.
