“Stop The Bloodbath”: environmentalists, PS and PCF call Emmanuel Macron to go “at the end of the approach” of Palestine recognition

In a letter made public, Marine Tondelier (Eelv), Olivier Faure (PS) and Fabien Roussel (PCF) ask Emmanuel Macron to act now “for the Palestinian state and call in particular the international” legal protection “of the territory.

“We ask you to act.” In response to Emmanuel Macron’s announcement about the recognition of the State of Palestine by France, the leaders of the socialist, environmental and communist parties published a letter this Monday, July 28 to the French president to “go to the end of the approach” of this decision.

“We call you (…) to go to the end of the approach you have announced. This is what our compatriots expect, always more numerous wanting the blood bath in the Middle East”, writing Tondelier Marino (Eelv), Olivier Faure (PS) and Fabien Roussel (PCF), in a letter that BFMTV could consult.

The three figures of the left point in particular the living conditions of the Gazaouis, “threatened with some death by an organized famine cynically” and that one “seeks to expel territories where he lives.”

“A concrete and immediate action”

In a context of intense famine that devastates the Palestinian enclave, the three officials ask the Head of State to carry out “a concrete and immediate action in front of the deliberate policy of the Benjamin Netanyahu government” who wants to “make the solution impossible to two impossible states.”

After the words of Emmanuel Macron, the three chefs now ask “to act now for the state of Palestine”, allowing in particular an international capacity and “legal protection” of the territory.

The “massive help of humanity” was significantly requested in this letter for “the martyred population of Gazaouie.” Regarding the actions of the Tsahal in Gaza, elected officials also call not “leave their hands free to the current Israeli government”, suspending the association agreement between the European Union and the State of Israel.

“The urgency is also at the launch of the Israeli hostages still detained in Gaza,” he also writes to the authors of this letter.

“Political inaction has only lasted too much”

In a similar approach, five unions (CFDT, CGT, UNSA, Solidarres, FSU) “praised”, in an open letter directed on Monday, the decision of the French president to recognize the state of Palestine, and called him to go beyond the “lovely speech.”

Announced for September, this recognition must take place “without delay, while Palestine disappears before our eyes”, write in the preamble of union leaders, including Marylise Léon (CFDT) and Sophie Binet (CGT).

“Political inaction has only lasted too much. It is necessary to impose a high immediate fire, the return to humanitarian aid exercised by professionals,” says the signatory. “Act before it’s too late,” they conclude.

After the announcement of the French president on Thursday that he will formally recognize the Palestinian State in September, an international conference is held on Monday and Tuesday at the UN.
