In BFMTV, Pierre-Henri Dumont defends the decision of his party and demands “not to confuse the elections.” “These are two destinations for two different elections. We consider in LR that Michel Barnier is the best candidate to be a deputy in the assembly and that Rachida Dati is probably (…) the best candidate to win the Paris City Council,” explains the former deputy of Pas-de-Calais.

The previous day, LR had already called the former Minister of Justice in this perspective, explaining through a press release: “The CNI considers that Rachida Dati is the best located to embody the alternation. That is why the CNI designates Agnès Evran, as president of the Paris Federation, to direct the discussions with Dati Rachide and build a list of rally.”
Pierre-Henri Dumont wants to believe in an exit from above. “There is still time. Application deposits are in more than a month,” he said.
If LR does not solve this equation, then the part must deal with the risk of a defeat in this constituency, occupied by François Fillon between 2012 and 2017, considered by the right.
In 2024, during the early legislative elections, the deputy of the Renaissance Jean Laussucq, also a former Cabinet director of Rachida Dati, had won in the second round against the socialist Marine Rosset, a candidate under the colors of the left union.
But in a particular configuration: during the first round, the latter had ended the front, before Jean Laussucq took advantage of the withdrawal of the chosen and outgoing candidate Gilles Le Gendre, former leader of Macronist agents, to win.
Jean Laussucq was declared inevitable “for a period of one year” on July 11 by the Constitutional Council, which rejected his campaign accounts.
