The president of the LR Federation of Paris Agnès evidence hopes to find “at the beginning of the school year an agreement” with Rachida Dati on the legislative that must actually be in October in the capital and the municipal elections of 2026 to avoid a fratricidal war with Michel Barnier, he told our AFP colleagues.
“I hope we find an agreement at the beginning of the school year,” said the Senator of Paris, responsible on Monday by the National Commission (CNI) for “carrying out the discussions” with Rachida Dati to “build a list of rally” for the municipal elections.
The Minister of Culture announced on Monday before the CNI his intention to run for the siege of the deputy who was vacant in the second district of Paris by Jean Laussucq Macronista, declared inevitable by the Constitutional Council.
This candidacy could lead to a fratricidal war from which Republicans are common between Rachida Dati and former Prime Minister Michel Barnier, who was officially invested in the party candidate.
“Rachida Dati can’t win without LR”
“On the right, we are all responsible for winning Paris in front of the left. It is a requirement for all Parisians waiting for work: students of students,” explains Agnès Evren, who believes that the maintenance of the two rival candidates would send “a very bad signal” a few months after the municipal elections.
“Republicans cannot win Paris without Rachida Dati and Rachida Dati cannot win without LR,” says the president of the Paris Federation, the most important of the party, acquired mainly by the head of Republicans Bruno Retailleau, who called Michel Barnier’s candidacy.
For Agnès evidence, there are three conditions for the right to delight the capital to the left: “A strong incarnation that we already have (with Rachida Dati), a solid project in which we work and the unit.”
At the end of the ICC, former presidential candidate Valérie Pecresse requested a “win-win agreement”: candidate for Michel Barnier Lr in the Legislative and Rachida Dati in the municipal.
In order for this agreement to become a reality, LR establishes two conditions: the first, which the minister would have accepted, is that the team of municipal councilors of Rachida Dati is “mainly of LR which is 60-40%, or even 70-30%”, emphasizes Agnès Evran.
The second raises more problems, because it requires the presence in this same team of LR members who had severely criticized debauchery in January 2024 of the mayor of the seventh group by Gabriel Attal to enter his government.
Renaissance temperators
On the Renaissance side, the party that has held the seat so far, is expected to clarify to the right of possibly presenting a candidate.
The Renaissance Minister responsible for artificial intelligence and Digital Clara Chappaz, whose name circulated for this partial legislative, said Tuesday in RMC that he did not want to “add bazaar to the bazaar.” However, he did not hide that he wanted to “commit” in an election, but “on time” and “in a meeting logic.”
“We can see that the situation is not clear, all in its time,” he added. “We will let the Republicans advance” and “the presidential camp will also respond in due time” to the question of a possible suitor.
