“Or we are 100% with them, or we are against them”: socialist activists see how to deal with the rebel for the after Bayrou

Before the very likely fall of François Bayrou, socialist activists, present in Blois for the University of Summer de Ps, are projected without LFI. Either for the hypothesis of a leftist government or that of a new solution.

Outside the Halle Aux de Blois (Loir-Et-Cher) grains, where the summer universities of the Socialist Party take place, the attached Florence Hérouin-Léutey explodes this Friday, August 29. Sitting with several militants in gray weather, the maritime parliamentarian of Sena Fun of our questions:

How do you plan this beginning on the left? Before the very likely fall of François Bayrou, which intends to request a vote of confidence in the assembly on September 8, what happens if Emmanuel Macron pronounces a new government or if a solution is pronounced? Should we remain in the basic concepts of the new popular front, this alliance of the left (LFI, PS, Ecologists, PCF), born in the last legislative elections, in 2024?

“From?” He asks, hilarious, as if the coalition no longer had to be. Before resuming more seriously: “You have noticed that things have been slipped since then.”

“The most viable solution is a government without LFI”

Euphemism: On the left, the tensions have been exacerbated between the rebels and the socialists for months, the first to criticize the latter because they have not voted for the censorship of François Bayrou in the budget at the beginning of the year.

If the Socialist Party says that it is “ready” to govern, in the event that Emmanuel Macron soon calls him to power, it is unthinkable if together with the rebel, according to Florence Hérouin-Léautey: “Nothing in his behavior and his narration makes it possible to imagine this hypothesis. Then, it is zero and not a way.” A shared feeling, according to her, on both sides of this “socialist campus”.

Next to him, the young Quentin Thirot, a militant in Rouen, agreed: “It is true that the most viable solution is a government to the left without a rebel France with a non -censorship agreement from the central block.”

The rebels “separated”

In 2024, in the same period, when he had reached the deletion in the legislative elections, but with a very relative majority, the left also proposed to govern without LFI.

Only difference: the rebels gave their consent, the latter ensuring that they would not participate in a government while supporting it, if that could prevent it from censored. The justification of a government without LFI is quite different today.

Damien Trinité, 46, dressed in a socialist shirt with the inscription “My Heart makes Blum” in tribute to the former president of the Léon Blum Council, reproaches the rebel form of an absorption: “or we are 100% with them, or we are against them.”

“Boomers comfort”, why François Bayrou plays the shock of generations to save their government?

In the eyes of this engineer inserted in Essonne, the latter “separated” from the rest of the left. “We see it here: for the left union, there are all, except them,” he said, referring to a speech by several leftist officials, including the pattern of environmental Marine Tondelier or former Insinumis François Ruffin, scheduled for the afternoon.

Kylian, 24, Grenoble, takes the same arguments. Of the Halle Aux grains, which generally house congresses or exhibitions and that is in the place of symbolism Jean Jaurès, explains:

“The perimeter of a union will not necessarily be the same, the grouping initiative remains intact to bring the ideas of the left and, in particular, of the socialist party as high as possible.”

“LEFT OF RESPONSIBILITY”

It remains to be seen how far the roses can reach without the rebel, in particular within the framework of a solution of the National Assembly. A stage discarded by Emmanuel Macron so far, without being really excluded.

If the head of the deputies of the party, Boris Vallaud, considered in a liberation interview that a programmatic agreement with LFI in the case of the early legislative elections “does not seem conceivable”, acknowledged that the question will emerge “district for the constituency” to block the right end.

Rouen Quentin Thirot activist, mentioned above, wants at least that PS LFI’s competition in the territories “where the risk of the extreme right is not absolutely present”:

“There are constituencies that are among the best for the left and that belong today to LFI when they were in the PS before. It is necessary for a left of responsibility to recover them.”

It is a good war. The leader of rebel deputies Mathilde Panot said Tuesday in an interview in Mediapart that LFI is ready for unique candidates for early legislative elections … but only with “those who wanted to censor Macron’s policy.”
