22% favorable opinions: impopularity record for Emmanuel Macron, according to a survey

If the President of the Republic has distinguished itself by its international action during the recognition of the State of Palestine by France, this decision “weighs less than the domestic context for the French,” according to a Odoxa survey.

The fall continues for Emmanuel Macron in public opinion. The Head of State even reaches a record of unpopularity at the Oodoxa-Mascare barometer published on Tuesday, September 30.

According to this survey, only 22% of the interviewees see it in it as a good president of the Republic. Or a six -point drop compared to June.

A national context that weighs more than international action

If 53% of the French approve the recent recognition of the state of Palestine by France, in the context of war in the Middle East, according to an Elabe survey for BFMTV, this decision does not seem to play in the popularity rating of Emmanuel Macron.

Certainly, the comments are “positive instead of negatives,” writes Odoxa. “Only here, this international success weighs less than the domestic domestic context for the French.”

Therefore, 83% of them say they are “pessimistic for the future of their country” and most tax increases fear, while Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu will soon present their budget project.

Lecornu more popular but …

Appointed in Matignon on September 9, the latter is better than the president, of which he is very close, with a popularity rating located at 32%. However, Sébastien Lecornu remains a first acclaimed prime minister if we take into account the results of the various heads of government after entry to office.

Under Emmanuel Macron, only François Bayrou (30% in January 2025) did it worse, while Edouard Philippe is the one that obtained the best score (55% in May 2017).

A candidate declared for the next presidential elections, the owner of The Horizons struggles to catch up with Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardella in the political registration of Odoxa. It falls from a point (32%of favorable opinions), while the leader of the national concentration stabilizes (36%) and the president of the distant party obtained a point (37%).

This survey was held on September 24 and 25 for the public Senate and the regional press, with a sample of 1,005 French ages of 18 years or more, according to the quota method.
