Representatives of the French Communist Party (PCF) of the Bouches-Du-Rhône voted on Thursday, October 3 at night for unanimity for the renewal of the coalition of the left union in the first round of the municipal on March 15 and 22 in Marseille.
“Our party is widely gathered and intends to participate in the victory of the left within the spring of Marseille,” said communist senator Jérémy Bacchi at AFP, also at the head of the Bouche-Du-Rhône PCF Federation.
The 250 communists who participated in this vote also appointed Anthony Gonçalves, Cancer and director of the Medical Oncology Department of the Marseille Institute Paolmettes, as a leader for these same elections.
A symbolic choice since, in all likelihood, the head of the Marseille spring list should be the current outgoing mayor, Benoît Payan (several left), who has not yet formalized his candidacy.
“Support in public opinion”
In 2019, the PCF had been one of the initiators of this movement in favor of a great demonstration that had resulted in the municipal elections of the left (PS, environmentalists and PCF) and citizens who, to everyone’s surprise, had managed to prevail in the second city of France after 25 years of right reign with Jean-Claude Gaudin (LR).
“After 5 years in mandate, we see that there is strong support in public opinion in favor of the Marseille spring team,” added Jérémy Bacchi. Five communist municipal councilors, including three assistants, are part of the current municipal majority, in particular the management of culture, solidarity or even equality between men and women.
On October 14, it will be the turn of the Greens to support the non -reduction of Marseille spring. The debates can be more tense because certain environmental members of the outgoing majority rather drive an alliance with France Rebel.
He has already announced to present an autonomous candidacy for which the deputy Sébastien Delgu is expected to. The socialists, favorable to the Union, must decide at the end of October and the Mad Mars Citizen Movement (near PS and EELV) will not decide “until later.”
Before the spring of Marseille, the right should also leave United with the candidate invested by the Republicans and the Renaissance, Martine Vassal, defeated in 2020. In the extreme right, Franck Allisio (National Rally) also announced his candidacy, with the support supported on Thursday of Senator Stéphane Ravier, who was assigned to Eric.
