“I invite the deputies of the Socialist Party (PS) to disobey and vote for censure.” After the announcement, this Tuesday, October 14, by Sébastien Lecornu, of the suspension of the pension reform – a decision supported by the Socialist Party – Manuel Bompard, coordinator of La Francia insumisa, reacted strongly on the BFMTV set, calling on the socialists to change course.
“The Socialist Party, in this history, has been deceived,” he stated. According to him, the proposed amendment in no way constitutes a fundamental regression:
“If this amendment is adopted by the National Assembly, it will be included in the social security budget (…) However, this provides for an under-indexation of retirement pensions, with 18 million retirees who will see their purchasing power fall,” denounced the deputy from Bouches-du-Rhône.
“An amendment that does not suspend the reform”, but rather “displaces” it
Manuel Bompard continued by specifying: “It is an amendment that does not suspend the reform, but rather delays it in time. Starting in 2028, the retirement age would increase to 64 years,” Manuel Bompard continued, specifying that it was “exactly the opposite” of what LFI had promised its voters.
And to conclude, in an accusatory tone: “I want to ask you if, yes or no, in the end, in the name of a pseudo-suspension that affects almost no one, you are willing to accept the drop in purchasing power.
