After asking for a resemblance to his father, Nicolas Sarkozy, Louis Sarkozy declared on Instagram that this mobilization “has nothing political” and represents “a gesture of support.”
The politician shared a photo of himself and the former head of state on Instagram when he was still a child, two days before the latter’s first moments behind bars as part of his five-year prison sentence for “criminal conspiracy.”
“We, his clan, his family, his friends, his followers, will be at his side to show him our love, our respect and our eternal loyalty,” he wrote.
“This meeting has nothing political,” says Louis Sarkozy. “It is neither a protest nor a complaint. It is simply a gesture of support, a silent and dignified testimony of a grateful country towards a man who dedicated his life to it.”
“I’m not afraid of jail”
This Saturday, Louis Sarkozy asked on social networks for the organization of a demonstration in the 16th district scheduled for October 21, the day the former head of state entered prison.
Pierre Sakozy also conveyed this call for a demonstration on Instagram. “If the justice of men knew your heart as I do, I don’t know if it would resist the sight of its own reflection,” he wrote.
For his part, Nicolas Sarkozy assured La Tribune Dimanche on October 19 that he “was not afraid of prison” and that he would “keep his head held high.” He plans to use his time behind bars to write a book.
Nicolas Sarkozy was sentenced on September 25 to five years in prison for “criminal conspiracy” in the context of the affair over Libyan financing of his 2007 presidential campaign.
