Without meaningful “tax justice” measures, the government side risks being censured
The leader of the PS deputies, Boris Vallaud, threatens to censure the government if the Macronists do not show themselves “capable of doing fiscal justice” during the examination of the revenue part of the 2026 state budget.
“If the central bloc is not able to vote in favor of the Zucman tax, this minimum and essential tax on very high wealth, if it is not able to vote in favor of the ISF on billionaires, which we have worked on and which we will propose, if it is not capable of achieving tax justice, I am not sure that it will be possible to discuss the future,” says Boris Vallaud in an interview with Parisian posted yesterday.

Sébastien Lecornu asks each deputy to “find ways of compromise”
Sébastien Lecornu yesterday put into perspective the setback suffered by the vote against the revenue of the 2026 budget in the commission, by not considering it a “failure”.
“Above all, I saw a first round, a kind of first warm-up round, in which everyone came with their convictions,” he said, inviting everyone to “find ways of compromise.”
“I think we have a path” that “will materialize in the chamber,” modern deputy Jean-Paul Mattei hoped, at the end of the Finance Commission debates.
Only Renaissance deputies voted in favor of the modified version of the 2026 budget revenue text
During the recent committee examination (which precedes the National Assembly chamber examination and serves as a dress rehearsal) of the revenue part of the state budget for 2026, this text was largely rejected by deputies.
Only the Renaissance deputies validated it, which raised fears of a stalemate in the lower house of Parliament. After three days of intense debate, it was completely discarded, with 11 votes in favor and 37 against.
Only the Renaissance deputies approved the text, RN and the left voted against it and, more unexpectedly, LR, from which six government ministers, now suspended from their party, came. The other two macronist groups, Modem and Horizons, abstained.
The 2026 budget reaches the National Assembly, debates begin at 3:00 p.m.
