The news should be officially announced this Tuesday. The Renaissance party is preparing to support the Paris councilor and the Horizons label Pierre-Yves Bournazel during the municipal elections of March 2026, La Tribune reports on Sunday, October 26.
This support was concluded after a meeting between Gabriel Attal, secretary general of Renaissance, Franck Riester, responsible for the elections of the Macronist party, Édouard Philippe, head of Horizons, and Pierre-Yves Bournazel himself.
Renaissance should therefore have 55% of the seats on the Horizons candidate’s lists and around ten list heads in all Paris districts.
A less “divisive” option
Initially, Gabriel Attal’s party planned to support Rachida Dati, Minister of Culture and mayor of District 7. Until the latter, after various internal maneuvers, obtained the LR nomination for the capital’s municipal elections and promised to grant them half of the seats on its lists.
By supporting Pierre-Yves Bournazel, Renaissance intends to weigh more against Rachida Dati.
“On the one hand, we had the possibility of a clear agreement with Pierre-Yves Bournazel, shared values and the prospect of a dignified and respectful campaign, in which we will talk about Paris and Parisians. On the other hand, we had an absence of proposals from Rachida Dati, to whom Franck Riester asked them on several occasions, uncertainties about the substance, in particular on the issue of transport, and attacks against journalists who are impactful on our ecosystem,” summarizes a member of Renaissance.
A few days before, Franck Riester had already declared in the columns of Le Monde Renaissance’s intention to support Pierre-Yves Bournazel, because the party claimed to be “very aligned” with his project. “Today we can clearly see the voters’ need and aspiration for appeasement. From this point of view, Pierre-Yves is less divisive,” he declared.
