The popularity of the executive couple, Emmanuel Macron and Sébastien Lecornu, plummeted two points in October, but at different levels, and the prime minister clearly survived despite the chaotic political context, according to the monthly Ifop barometer of the Journal du Dimanche.
Sébastien Lecornu, in search of a difficult compromise on the budget with the political forces, obtained 38% satisfaction with his action in October. In particular, it registered positive results among socialist and environmentalist sympathizers (42%), while trying to reach agreements with the left.
Close to François Hollande’s history of unpopularity
Emmanuel Macron, for his part, falls to only 16%, his lowest level since his entry to the Elysée in 2017, flirting with the unpopularity records of François Hollande (13%). A disenchantment that is taking over his side: if he enjoys 67% satisfaction among supporters of the Renaissance, this score has dropped 15 points in October.
According to the general director of Ifop, Frédéric Dabi, cited by the JDD, Sébastien Lecornu also stands out for having a better image among those surveyed: “listener”, “humble”, “promoter of dialogue and commitment”.
Survey conducted online from October 15 to 24, 2025, to a representative sample of 2,000 people aged 18 and over, using the quota method. Margin of error between 1 and 2.2 points.
