Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu will receive, on Monday, October 27, the heads of the Senate parliamentary groups linked to the common base, BFMTV learned among the head of government’s entourage.
The agenda and purpose of this meeting have not been communicated. “We are waiting for more information about the direction and method,” an LR source in the Senate tells BFMTV.
Furthermore, this meeting was scheduled before the departure of Gérard Larcher regarding pensions.
The budget “is not acceptable”
The president of the upper house assured Le Parisien on Saturday that the Senate “will reinstate the pension reform” within the framework of the examination of the Social Security budget for 2026, in case the National Assembly suspended it.
“We have been voting in favor for five years. I remind you that its abandonment means a deficit of 30 billion in 2035,” declared Gérard Larcher, controlled by the right and the Macronists. He also indicated that the “budget presented” by the government to the National Assembly was “unacceptable.”
