The president of the Republicans, Bruno Retailleau, considered that the budget project is, this Wednesday, October 29, “even less voteable than yesterday” by the right in the Assembly, denouncing the “fiscal madness” that has taken over the chamber.
“There is an almost unprecedented fiscal shock,” said the former Minister of the Interior. “The fiscal solution is in no way France’s solution. We must reduce spending,” he insists.
According to him, “the PS has taken control of the government.” “That’s why I left. I couldn’t support a government in which I didn’t find my convictions,” he explains to RTL, in reference to the abandonment of 49.3 and the suspension of the pension reform.
Bruno Retailleau wants Emmanuel Macron to resign
Bruno Retailleau criticized an alliance in the votes of the left and the RN that allowed, in particular, on Tuesday afternoon the vote on a “universal tax” on multinationals that, in theory, could raise up to 26 billion euros.
In addition, he said he wanted Emmanuel Macron to “make the decision” to resign. “But it’s not my place to ask,” he adds.
Whether he does it or not, a return to the polls is inevitable, according to the Republican leader. “We will get there one way or another. There are three ways to do it: the resignation of the President of the Republic – that depends on him – the dissolution and the referendum.”
