The representatives of the Renaissance have presented a bill to prohibit the use of so-called “dressage” collars on a pet, in particular with electric shocks or spikes, due to the suffering they cause.
The text, registered on Tuesday by the presidency of the Assembly, proposes to prohibit the sale and use “on a pet of any device with electric shock, strangler without a stop or with spikes.”
Failure to comply with this prohibition, which if adopted would enter into force in 2024, would expose you to a fourth class fine of up to 750 euros.
These collars “have never been shown to be effective for any behavior problem, and on the contrary, they increase the risk of aggression and bites in dogs due to the stress, anxiety and suffering they suffer”, justify the initiators of this text. , including the Haute-Garonne deputy Corinne Vignon.
They argue that “there are many alternatives to educate or re-educate dogs, without resorting to tools or methods that generate pain or fear.”
