When traveling this Thursday to a car recycling company in Gaillac, in the Tarn, Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne wanted to be reassuring about the power cuts that could occur this winter, in the event of significant tensions in the electrical network. She also encouraged the population to be attentive to their energy consumption.
“If we all do even more to lower our consumption, we will not have a cut,” he said, questioned by several journalists.
“We have been preparing for this for months”
“We all have part of the answer, in our hands”, insisted the Prime Minister. “If we all lower our energy consumption, it is good for everyone’s purchasing power, the competitiveness of companies, and at the same time it will avoid having a moment in which we have insufficient electricity production in relation to demand, for example if there is a cold wave”.
The Government “is doing everything possible to avoid cuts, we have been preparing for months,” Elisabeth Borne also assured.
This “in particular filling our gas reserves, diversifying our supplies, ensuring that EDF goes as quickly as possible to put into service the reactors that are closed for maintenance”, but “also reinforcing our sobriety”, he declared. .
