Pensions: LFI promises to defeat the executive either “in the chamber or on the street”

Mathilde Panot, LFI leader in the National Assembly, explains that her party wants to support the social mobilizations against the pension reform. She also claims the right to “obstruct” this text by presenting numerous amendments.

The president of the LFI group in the National Assembly, Mathilde Panot, promised on Friday to push the government back “in the chamber or on the street” on the controversial pension reform, whose guidelines Élisabeth Borne must announce in mid-December.

“For us it is still no, like 80% of the French, we do not want it, and we will make them beat a retreat in the chamber or in the street,” warned the deputy on RTL. Mathilde Panot has already announced the participation of her movement in a demonstration on January 21, without ruling out other mobilizations before.

“We are going to coordinate with the different organizations, I saw that there was a call from youth organizations for January 21, there will be insubordinate France,” he explained.

He also claimed the right to “obstruct” the Assembly by submitting a series of amendments.

“Retirement at 60”

“Last time we had 17,000 to 17, now we are 75, it even happens that with all the Nupes we are 151, so I do believe that we have to be up to the task right now,” he said.

“We can return to retirement at 60 years of age and we will have a pension reform counter-project” with “a complete financing plan,” he also assured.

Regarding the possible demonstrations by opponents of this reform, Élisabeth Borne admits that “there is a right to demonstrate” but reaffirms it in an interview with Parisian on Thursday night, that “this reform is necessary to save our pension system”.

The head of government will meet several ministers on this reform on Friday afternoon, before presenting a text on December 15. Moment of respite for months. We will not forget their methods,” the environmentalist deputy Sandrine Rousseau was outraged on Twitter.
