Sectors that would not operate without immigration

The French president declares that “France has always been a land of immigration”, recalling that “we have always needed it for our economy”. He thus cites the Italian, Spanish and North African immigration that contributed to the agricultural sector, but also the Polish immigration that worked in the mines.

The Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, had thus proposed at the beginning of November the creation of a residence permit specifically dedicated to undocumented workers who have a job in a sector that needs labor.

“Today, let’s be lucid, do we sincerely think that catering, agricultural work, and many other sectors function without immigration? You have to have the honesty to say it, the answer is no, ”she launches.

At the same time, he explains that the unemployment insurance reforms also aim to “encourage all French men and women who are able to work to do so” and to occupy jobs in sectors in demand.
