Two days before the end of the COP 15 for biodiversity, Emmanuel Macron published an appeal this Saturday night on Twitter, saying that we must “do everything possible to protect our biodiversity”.
“My message to our partners is: let’s not make small decisions, let’s do the maximum! Let’s achieve the most ambitious agreement together. The world needs it, ”he wrote on the social network.
Before continuing: “Protecting 30% of the land and oceans is what we have done in France. 33% of our territory already benefits from protected status and we have created the second largest protected marine area on our planet. Let’s do it globally.”
The Chinese president of COP15 declared this Saturday “very confident” in finding an international consensus in Montreal to sign the long-awaited “peace pact with nature” aimed at stopping the destruction of biodiversity by 2030.
