It’s a tradition, after six months in Matignon. At the end of the Council of Ministers on Wednesday, Emmanuel Macron presented Elisabeth Borne with her insignia of the Grand Cross of the National Order of Merit. During a ceremony described as quite moving by some participants, the President of the Republic painted a rather brilliant portrait of the Prime Minister of him.
“You are a woman of confidence more than trustworthy,” Emmanuel Macron told Elisabeth Borne in particular.
The Head of State also praised the “energy, strength and loyalty” of the Matignon tenant.
The popularity ratings of Emmanuel Macron and Elisabeth Borne are currently at the same level, with 36% of French people satisfied, according to the December Ifop barometer, published by the Sunday newspaper. But the Prime Minister federates a little less discontent (59%) than the President of the Republic (62%).
