“The French know what will happen”: Olivier Dussopt considers the pension reform “inevitable”

The Minister of Labor was the guest of BFMTV on Tuesday night after the presentation of the pension reform by the government.

“I am convinced that the French know that this reform is necessary.” Labor Minister Olivier Dussopt, invited on Tuesday by BFMTV, was questioned about the pension reform presented by the government.

The text, defended by Élisabeth Borne, provides for a postponement of the legal age to 64 by 2030. Most of the unions, which have made their opposition to the reform known, have announced a day of strike on January 19.

“I don’t have a crystal ball, I don’t know what the scale of the mobilization is,” said Olivier Dussopt on our antenna.

The text presented on January 23 in the Council of Ministers

“What I think I’m hearing is that the French know that pension reform is going to happen and they know that in a way it’s a bit inevitable,” the Labor Minister added on BFMTV.

The text must be presented on January 23 in the Council of Ministers before reaching the National Assembly on February 6. The President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, made it known – during his wishes to the French for the year 2023 – that he wanted this reform to be applied “from the end of summer”.
