BFMTV SURVEY – 60% of the French approve the mobilization against the pension reform

The pension reform is widely rejected by the French population, indicates an Elabe poll for BFMTV. 46% of those consulted say they are willing to “mobilise” against the government’s plan “in the coming weeks.”

The slingshot in the street will be important on January 19, the date of the first day of mobilization against the pension reform. According to a poll by Elabe for BFMTV, carried out after the announcement of Elisabeth Borne’s government project on Tuesday, 60% of the French say they “support” or feel “sympathetic” with regard to the mobilization against the pension reform.

An opinion shared by all sociodemographic and professional categories, but more mixed among retirees: 48% of them support the movement, 44% oppose it and 6% say they are “indifferent”.

Support for the mobilization against the pension reform amounts to 67% among employees, 65% among workers, and 68% among 50-64 year-olds.

The French ready to hit the streets

This year, the French skirt is equivalent to cell phone registered by Elabe in 2019 for the mobilization against the previous reform of portraits that will be abandoned due to Covid-19 (60% approval in 2023, 65% already four years).

Above all, 46% of the French say they are ready to mobilize in the coming weeks against the pension reform. An increase of nine points compared to November 2019. In particular, the voters of Jean-Luc Mélenchon in the first round of the presidential elections (70%) and those of Marine Le Pen (58%).

Finally, the French believe by a large majority (68%) that “the government has not listened and has remained in its positions without making significant compromises” with the unions and political organizations.

Sample of 1002 people representative of mainland French residents aged 18 and over. The representativeness of the sample was ensured according to the quota method applied to the following variables: sex, age and profession of the interviewee, prior stratification by region and agglomeration category.
