For Xavier Bertrand, the government’s pension reform is “profoundly unfair”

The president of Hauts-de-France, wishes that a person “who has 43 years of contribution can leave fully before the age of 64”.

It was an offensive Xavier Bertrand who appeared this Wednesday on BFMTV-RMC. What do you think of the pension reform that Elisabeth Borne outlined the day before? It is “unfair, profoundly unfair”, responds the president Les Républicains (LR) of Hauts-de-France.

The Prime Minister has, however, multiplied the gestures to the right. And for good reason: without the group of deputies chaired by Olivier Marleix, the relative majority cannot pass his bill, unless he uses article 49, paragraph 3 of the Constitution.

“Where is the justice?”

Thus, the head of Matignon has agreed to various requests from LR parliamentarians, including revaluation of the minimum pension, even for current retirees, postponement of the legal age to 64 and not 65, acceleration of the Touraine reform or even the consideration of parental leave. Immediate effect: the right “is satisfied to have been heard”, Olivier Marleix let them know in the process.

Xavier Bertrand agrees on the need to “work more because we live longer”.

However, the elected believes that “it is a reform for people who are well.” He explains: “For those who started working very young, even before they were 20-21 years old, those who are therefore less trained, less paid, will have to make 44 years of contributions.” And he asks:

“Where is the justice?”

“Right of the People”

The elected official wants “someone who has contributed for 43 years to be able to get 100% out before the age of 64.” A position that resonates with some LR deputies. Among them, we find in particular Aurélien Pradié, singer of a “popular right” and supported by Xavier Bertrand in the first round of the LR congress last December.

On Monday, the MP for Lot, who campaigned for his opposition to the postponement of the legal age of departure, recalled his position in LCP:

“For me, what should prevail is the contribution period,” explained the 36-year-old parliamentarian.

A line war. Xavier Bertrand chooses him to dig his trail with the “popular right”.

On BFMTV-RMC, he declares: “What is the DNA of the law I believe in? A law that is not hard on the most fragile […] When you think of work, you think of everyone. For the future, the former Minister of Labor warns: “It is this voice that I will continue to carry.”
